Taft Hassan Watson is an impassioned advocate for the continued growth, assisted journey and successful upbringing youth and young adults, with Taft bringing the unique combination of mentorship and life’s experience. With 30+ years in the Healthcare industry, Taft has held leadership roles in Medical Billing with numerous practices and facilities. He also touts leaderships roles in rites-of passage programs, such as Blue Nile ROP mentoring Program. Blue Nile ROP has successfully graduated over a Thousand (1,000+) youth through its doors since it’s inception in 1994.
Taft was led to WE HAVE DREAMS 2 (WHD2) and quickly discovered their mission to impact our young Men and Women was aligned with his core belief that Every child deserves a chance to succeed on a level playing field. WHD2 believes in the Power of continuous influence on our youth. He acknowledged their commitment to expanding and sharing young people’s access to success.
Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, and being surrounded by both friends and companions who did get caught up in a lost and dangerous environment, Taft decided to attend Morehouse College to springboard his career and give himself an opportunity for success. The Biggest lesson while in college was to find a mentor/ guide/ leader to help navigate a new type of environment. And be willing to give back to incoming students to teach those willing accept this guidance. That was impact. Learning more than just the academia part. Taft has “officially” mentored youth since 2004 and uses his faith and life’s experience to continue this mission.
Taft is married to Karen Watson and he has two adult children, who are both in the Education field in NYC. He and his wife reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia and enjoy numerous activities such as family outings, vacations and getting together with friends for reminiscing and laughter. His newest and most overwhelming passion is Playing Golf 2-3 times a week.
